Financial Empowerment

 

What is Financial Empowerment Training?

Financial Empowerment is an in-class program that focuses on day-to-day essential financial information that applies to all individuals from many different backgrounds.

Literacy skills, such as reading, writing and math are not required to participate in the program. Class sizes are small to ensure maximum interaction and participation for all individuals.

Who is Eligible Financial Empowerment Training?

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Identifies as living with a mental illness or substance use disorder 

  • Not currently engaged in work or other education programming that would create a timing conflict – we never want to have someone remove themselves or miss time in community employment or other education/training initiatives

  • Be motivated to learn and become more financially independent

What can Financial Empowerment Training offer you?

Sessions are typically two days per-week for 8 weeks. Training stipend is offered bi-weekly.

  • How to Set & Achieve Goals

  • Needs versus Wants

  • Savings and Banking

  • Consumer Awareness

  • Medication Coverage

  • Making Money

  • Meal Planning

  • Budgeting

  • Financial Planning

  • Income Tax Preparation
