Products from our Social Businesses

Meaningful and competitive employment provides a sense of purpose and dignity. Our Social Businesses provide supported employment opportunities in a person-centered and directed approach to assist individuals prepare for, obtain, and maintain integrated, competitive employment. We provide skill development and building, meaningful and competitive employment opportunities by using the principles of Social Enterprise and Recovery in all aspects of the business.

Three (3) distinct social business lines are operated to this end: Property Maintenance, Environmental Repurposing (Woodshop), Environmental Services (Laundry/custodial). All business lines have a triple bottom-line: fulfillment of a social mandate, in this case recovery from mental illness, revenue generation, and environmental responsibility.

Woodshop Products 

​

Our woodshop has been a staple in the CBRM for many years. We offer a variety of quality products such as:

  • Kindling

  • Adirondack chairs

  • Benches

  • Bathouses

  • BBQ scrapers

  • Garbage/recycling bins,

  • Washer toss games

  • Custom builds and more. 

 

These items are built at our 196 Prince Street location by our participants using 100% recycled wood.

Laundry/Linens 

​

Our laundry service is an in-house operation, serving clients in the hair salon and restaurant businesses, our team provides:

​

  • Washing

  • Drying

  • Folding

  • Bagging

​

of towels, table linens, aprons and more. We also source product and materials. Our team can provide delivery to and from your business or establishment.

Property Maintenance

Our hard-working property maintenance crew prides itself on hard work and can help maintain your commercial or private property. 

Our trained, capable staff will work under the direction of a qualified project supervisor to provide the services you require.

Mental Health Literacy Training – Elephant in the Workplace 

​

Good mental and physical wellbeing is vital to support a healthy workforce and work is a key driver for good health and wellbeing.

​

Our Elephant in the Workplace workshop is a one-day, in-person/virtual training session designed to engage employees in the important relationship between our mental health and the workplace.

​

  • This workshop will equip employers and employees with the tools to better understand and address barriers the workplace can place on our mental health and to those living with a mental illness.  

  • Training provides methods to increase work productivity and create a healthy and inclusive work environment.

​

Training will help to:

​

  • Reduce stigma associated with mental illness

  • Increase awareness

  • Reveal barriers to employment

  • Provide methods to increase work productivity

  • Create a healthy work environment

  • Display benefits of wellness behaviors

  • Offer skills to address concerns or handle complicated situations
